Key Specifics to Vivado ML 2023.1:

What are some of the key specifics that we, here at BLT, are interested in? Here are our top new updates in the latest edition:

  • Intelligent Design Runs (IDR)
    • Average 8% QoR improvement for Versal™ designs
    • Average 13% QoR improvement for UltraScale+™ designs
  • Synthesis & Implementation: Intelligent Design Run (IDR) improvements – For Versal™ and UltraScale+™ Families ; Bitstream generation via multithreading – Extending support for Versal
  • VHDL 2019 Support: we’ve all been waiting for this one. Initial support includes interfaces, 64-bit integers, and environment variable access. Additional support is coming. (Take our AMD Xilinx VHDL class)
  • Bitstream Generation via Multithreading: Vivado uses multithreading technique to speed up bitstream generation in UltraScale and UltraScale+. Vivado version 2023.1 now includes multithreading support for Versal devices
  • DFX Debug Support: Dynamic Function Exchange (formerly called partial reconfiguration). The Hardware Manager supports debugging on DFX designs. DFX Debug support adds debug cores for DFX designs. This includes insertion flow (after IP is synthesized). In 2023.1 Vivado supports adding debug cores during the insertion flow as well. (Take our AMD Xilinx DFX class)
  • Power Design Manager(PDM) Updates: Integration of Power Design Manager in Unified Installer and No additional SW requirement to install and run PDM
  • IP Enhancements: Improved performance in QDMA v5.0 and ECC enablement on soft CAN and AXI Stream FIFO
