Open Position: IT Administrator

As a BLT’s IT Administrator, you will be responsible for maintaining and securing Windows and Linux servers and workstations, networks, security and infrastructure. You will support end users, manage system administration tasks, and ensure comprehensive documentation. Additionally, you will help implement policies and procedures to align IT operations with internal standards, company objectives, industry best practices, and federal government requirements.

Location: Melbourne, FL

IT Administrator Role Details

Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $80,000 – $125,000 per year (based on experience)
Location: Melbourne, FL – On-site
Experience: 5+ years
Clearance: US citizenship required; Confidential clearance (preferred)
Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Required Expertise

  • Administering and maintaining Windows Server, Hyper-V 
  • Administering and maintaining Linux servers 
  • Administering and maintaining LANs and VPNs  
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft O365, Exchange, Teams, Windows 10/11, AWS 
  • College Degree in Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a wide range of hardware and software 
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience 
  • Strong customer service orientation along with excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment 
  • Proactive, self-reliant, and resourceful; excellent problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively 
  • Must be a US citizen and have or be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance 

Your Challenge

  • Develop block diagrams, logic flow charts, and similar detailed IT documentation
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, workstations, and networks.
  • Provide timely and high-quality end-user technical support and training for BLT personnel.
  • Set end user accounts, permissions, access rights including 2FA, and storage allocations in accordance with best
    practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Setup, manage, and maintain existing infrastructure (including but not limited to Windows and Linux servers,
    desktops, laptops, networking equipment, printers, and licensing) document and install new hardware and
    software as appropriate. Recommend and perform hardware upgrades and resource optimization as needed.
    Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
  • Certificate management supporting 2FA through PKI cards, FIDO2 keys, and related technologies.
  • Perform regular security monitoring to prevent and identify potential or actual intrusions. Provide periodic
    performance reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining infrastructure for system security in coordination with other staff and vendor support
    (including, but not limited to active directory, Group Policy, file system permissions, anti-virus, firewalls,
    databases, and other appliances).
  • Apply operating system patches and upgrades on a regular basis. Upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
    Perform monthly server maintenance during non-peak hours.
  • Support BLT’s offices in Columbia Maryland and Melbourne (area) Florida and other US locations including
    intermittent travel as needed.
  • Infrequent off hours work and on-call time as needed.
